Halloween Tips

Whether you are planning a Halloween party or simply dressing up your baby for a few photo opportunities to add to the family album, here are a few tips to help keep you and your baby's Halloween night together fun and safe.

If you are hosting a Halloween party this season, be very selective of the guests you invite. If you are the parent of a newborn baby, you may want to try to keep the guest list small. Too many unfamiliar faces at once may be too overwhelming for your baby. If other children will also be attending the party, make sure that enough adult supervision is present. It may also be a good idea to keep the party short. Keeping your baby up past bedtime may prove to be more trouble than it is worth.

When choosing a theme for the Halloween party, be sure to consider the age appropriateness of the decorations. Some monster images may be too frightening for young children. Young children do not yet understand the difference between reality and fantasy. To be on the safe side, choose decorations with happy faces and keep the house well lit for the party.

It is true that half of the fun in hosting a party is in the preparation. Whether it is preparing Halloween-themed food, making invitations, or setting and decorating the table, remember to always include your baby in these pre-party activities. Preparing for Halloween together with your baby is sure to be much more enjoyable and memorable. Remember, this is as much your baby's party as it is yours.

It is not necessary to host a party in order to make Halloween fun for your baby. If handing out candy and watching the neighbor's kids come by in costume is what you had in mind, here are a few things you can do to spice up your baby's Halloween this year. If you think your baby is too young to be dressed up for Halloween, think again. There are various companies that manufacture infant costume bags and Halloween-themed caps and booties. With the costumes available today, dressing up for Halloween is much easier and more comfortable for your baby. Your baby is sure to thank you for the fun memories you have captured on film.

This Halloween weekend, allow your baby to help you carve or paint the pumpkin. Playing Halloween dress-up may be more fun for your baby than you think. Consider taking your dressed-up baby for a stroll in the neighborhood or to nearby mall on Halloween for that trick-or-treat experience. Keeping your baby involved on the days leading up to Halloween is key to a fun and more meaningful night. Remember to be prepared, have fun, and stay safe. Happy Halloween!
